The seasons first rain in Delhi. It was raining and the sunshine was coming at the same time. After some time the rainbow appeared in the east horizon with its all colors. I saw rainbow in Delhi for the very first time.
It reminded me the old saying (as I always remember when it happens).
It reminded me the movie “dreams” by Akira Kurosawa.
The Old Saying………….
When sun shines through the rain the foxes hold their marriage. If some one happens to see it, he is being summoned by the foxes and eventually killed (or he should kill himself).
The Dream……..
Akira Kurosawa’s movie “Dreams” starts with the story of an old legend in Japan that states that when the sun is shining through the rain, the foxes hold their weddings. In this first dream, a boy defies the wish of a woman, possibly his mother, to remain at home during a day with such weather. From behind a large tree in the nearby forest, he is witness to the slow wedding procession of the kitsune(Japanese word for fox). Unfortunately, he is spotted by the foxes and runs. When he tries to return home, the same woman says that a fox had come by the house, leaving behind a knife. The woman says that it is meant for the boy to commit suicide because the foxes are angry at the unwanted observer. The woman asks the boy to go and beg forgiveness from the foxes, although they are known to be unforgiving and informs that they live under the rainbow. So, the boy sets off into the mountains, towards the place under the rainbow in search for the kitsune's home.

A great Legend indeed. And such legends are found throughout human cultures where human minds try giving explainations to processes unknown.
During such rains, its seems, a legend goes in north Karnataka, Lions and Foxes marry. I always imagined this, as to how lions and foxes could ever marry? who would be the groom? who would be the bride and who would be the guests? And spicing this imagination (first rains in summer, a rainbow, a forest, a fox and relatives, lion and relatives and a ceremony) was Panchatantra's comics with humanised pictures of animals.
Thanks for the feedback.
So, the Legend has found its place in many cultures.
its very ineteresting!
